ArtsPark
A very urban village fair in Hintonburg's QUAD arts district presented by Euphoria, Beament Green and the Hintonburg Community Association
Every year, people tell us they look forward to ArtsPark and we know why. It's a low-key, one-day
outdoor festival of art, music, performance... it's free... and it's fun for everyone in your family. (Don't forget it's Mothers' Day too.)
Join us Sunday 11 May 2008 from 10am to 4pm at Parkdale Market (Parkdale Avenue at Armstrong Street in the heart of Hintonburg's QUAD arts district). Browse the work of local jewellery, textile and clothing designers, see

Music
Noon Herb Girls
Take vintage pop, rock and
country, add oil of jazz and a scent of the blues. Play these spicy
compositions with a saucy disposition and you’ve got a hokey-pokey of
fun tunes from Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Never-on-Thyme -- they're all from Hintonburg -- that young
and old will be sure to enjoy!
1:00 pm Ottawa Community Concert Band
In the late 1960s, a small group of amateur musicians were taking part
in an adult education program at Highland Park School in Ottawa and
came up with the idea of starting a regular amateur band. Fast forward
about 40 years and the Ottawa Community Concert Band was awarded a gold
certificate at the Kiwanis Music Festival -- twice! A huge hit at
ArtsPark 2005 and 2007, the 40-member band will perform a varied
program of classical, marches, old-time favourites, show tunes, big
band and jazz. You'll love the pure, un-miked sound in the great
outdoors. Weather dependent.
2:00 pm The Judah Gospel Chorale
The Chorale -- a music fellowship program for young people -- finds its
purpose through song and includes a 30-member youth roster along with a
razor-sharp band backing the group’s dynamic and expressive vocal
performances.
3:00 pm Lucky Ron and the new "Rhode Island" McGillicuddy Sisters
An Ottawa legend and Hintonburg's favourite balladeer, country stylist
Lucky Ron is joined by the McGillicuddy Sisters, a six-member rockin'
hillbilly band who provide lively roots entertainment in the genre of
such early recording artists as Rose Maddox, Little Jimmy Dickens, The
Stanley Brothers. Join us for a performance that demands audience
participation!
