to get to ArtsParkWhat is ArtsPark? ArtsPark is an annual event organized by the Hintonburg Community Association to celebrate culture in the area and to promote the QUAD arts district -- a very urban village fair that's fun for the whole family. If you haven't already been part of the ArtsPark experience, don't miss it! This will be the third presentation and it is a sure-fire crowd-pleaser. See work from dozens of local artists, enjoy a virtually continuous performance program, take a heritage walking tour, check out locally-created work at the Jewellery Fair or Designer Showcase, then vote for your favourite QUADVIEW photos. Snacks and soft drinks will be available onsite from about 11am to 2pm. ArtsPark is made possible by the generosity of our partners -- please support them too! Sponsors

"The artists are here; the people who wish to live in a vibrant, bustling community are here. All we need to do is. . . mix them up in the streets and the parks." Anita Lahey, Editor, Kitchissippi Times, June 2004 QUADVIEW:
Vote now or vote at ArtsPark! If you saw QUADVIEW last year, you'll remember that the work was outstanding and the competition was keen. (Check out the top five entries from 2005 -- you'll see what we mean.) This year's submissions have been posted on the website of the QUADVIEW sponsor, the Camera Club of Ottawa. Vote online now or stop by ArtsPark on Sunday 14 May and choose your favourites in two categories: Scene in the QUAD (on the streets and around the neighbourhood) and Hintonburg Heritage (buildings and other structures of historical significance). The top entries will be published in the late May issue of the Kitchissippi Times, a co-sponsor of the contest. ProgrammeHave a really good time at ArtsPark from 10am to 4pm!

stirring Algonkian legends to a vivid re-enactment of the Ice Storm of
1998, this touching piece of theatre celebrates the spirit of
storytelling and its rich heritage in the Ottawa Valley. Experience the
vibrant and moving tales of the valley and meet a wonderful collection
of heroes, kids and animals.
![]() 11 am Carleton Bovell Singer-songwriter
Carleton Bovell describes his sound as modern acoustic rock. Although his
sound may be as full as a four-piece band, he creates his rich
acoustic guitar rock
textures by stacking harmonies with the inventive
use of a digital loop sampler. Even the drum beats are played by
Carleton on guitar. "Musically, I try to be as honest as my lyrics,"
Carleton says. "By layering parts myself, I am able to give the
audience a performance that is 100% me." In 2004, his single
"It Just Wasn't Love" was named Ottawa's winner in the National
Songwriting Competition and his new CD Her has
recently been released.

1 pm Lucky Ron A sure-fire, country-stylin'
crowd pleaser back for a return engagement after electrifying the
audience at the first ArtsPark in 2004.This five-member rockin'
hillbilly band from
the Ottawa Valley provides lively roots entertainment in the genre of
such early recording artists as Rose Maddox & The Maddox Brothers,
Little Jimmy Dickens, and The Stanley Brothers. The Sisters released
their first rockin' CD, "Hillbilly Hi-jinx", last year. "... Lurlene
McGillicuddy's walking bass gets a tasty workout over the course of the
10 tracks, as does Violet's fiddle, while Fanny Mae and Miss Kitty
contribute guitar and vocals that manage to have fun with (without
poking too much fun at) old-fashioned, high-spirited country music..." Patrick Langston, The Ottawa Citizen,
January 15, 2006
3 pm Hollow Water A new four-piece rock band
consisting of drum kit, bass guitar, electric guitar, electric piano
and three vocals. With songs ranging from soaring pop to raw, epic
Zeppelin-style ballads, Hollow Water's music and lyrics "... are about
catching those moments in our lives that grip us totally, and to save
them somehow before they slip away" says Lisa Poushinsky, lead
singer/songwriter.
